Having “Like” buttons on social media platforms is fashionable as they enable users to “vote” on items that please them. While the CES software that the Cape Town Talent Exchange uses is not driven by fashion, it has always sought ways to help users evaluate others’ offers.
- Now you can “like” ads you know or think are great. If you look at the full description of an offering or want (on both the mobile and desktop sites), you can click/tap on the “like” emoji to express your approval. Please do that for any offerings or wants that you know/think are worthy of attention.
Many commercial sites offering services (such as Uber and Airbnb) have reputation systems that clients/customers can use to rate what they have received (and vice versa). CES has avoided such systems because a single negative response can destroy a provider’s reputation. Many Talent Exchangers are not “professionals” but offer their skills in good faith. Sometimes recipients are not satisfied, but it is enough to express that to the provider, who can then improve their service in future.
CES allows users to “recommend” those who have provided satisfaction, but this tends not to be used very often. The “like” button now makes it much easier to express your approval.
